The “Centro Ricerche Plast - Optica SpA (CRP)” is a company operating in Amaro (UDINE) since June 2002 resulting from a partnership between Centro Ricerche Fiat, Automotive Lighting Rear Lamps Italy (ex SEIMA big supplier of automotive rearlamps) and Agemont (Agency for Economic Development of the mountain) with the objective of promoting applied research in the fields of optics, lighting systems and communication, moulding of plastic materials and related technologies, micro and nanotecnology. His potential customers are all industries, particularly SMEs . During its years of operation, has forged important partnerships for research and development with leading companies operating at the regional level in lighting civil and automotive, in information systems, in “white industry” and with universities in the region. To develop its activities the Center is equipped with laboratories dedicated to simulation and optical design, process and innovative plastic materials. Also for testing and prototyping the CRP centre has laboratories with equipment of high technological content.

Kilometro Rosso is presently hosting about 900 R&D specialists, and by the year 2010 will reach no less than 1,500 R&D staff. The new Lab for Transport Systems Safety is located into campus Bovisa est, via Durando. It is divided into two main branches, Passive and Active Safety. In particular, the Passive branch is under the responsability of the Department of Aerospace Engineering. Research on passive safety began at Dipartimento di Ingegneria Aerospaziale in the late ‘60s, resulting in the foundation of the first academic crash laboratory in Italy.

SINTESI AB was founded in Milan in July 1988 by Ing. Aldo Bassi, after a long experience in the car industry as a Director at Alfa Romeo and Fiat Research Center. The objectives of the Company are directed to activities of innovation for industrial companies working in the fields of mechanics and electronics applied with particular reference to auto parts. SINTESI AB has also developed new methodologies, integrating the normal project activities, reliability analysis done with computer codes developed in collaboration with the Research Center in Ispra (Commission of the European Community, Joint Research Center Ispra). Up to now been performed more than 50 tests FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) FMECA (Failure Mode Effect Critically Analysis) and RAMS (ReliabilityAvailability Maintainability & Safety) for leading companies in transport and industrial installations. Subsequently the company has acquired extensive experience in the field of green vehicles and fuels, alternative fuels, Methane and LPG and more recently, Hydrogen, addressing both the design and testing of systems and components for cars (mechanical and electronic).
